We exist because the platforms institutions were given assumed someone else's reality — always-on broadband, generous budgets, US or European compliance frameworks. We build for the realities our customers actually live in.

We're building the unified operating system for African education and skills development — so that running a school, college, university, or skills programme stops being a fight against fragmented tools and starts being about what it should be: educators teaching, learners learning, institutions thriving.

Why we exist

The platforms institutions inherited weren't built for them.

Walk into a typical South African school, college, or training provider and you'll find three things: a stack of paper that should be digital, a folder of spreadsheets nobody fully trusts, and a software tool retrofitted from somewhere else — usually missing the SA-specific compliance bits, usually expensive in data, usually broken when the network drops.

We started eduSYMS because the people running African education deserve better — not a watered-down version of a global product, but a platform engineered around their reality from the first commit.

Software exists to serve learners and teachers — not the other way around. If a feature doesn't make a school day better, it doesn't ship.

Connectivity is a privilege most of our customers do not always have. So our default is local-first, sync-when-you-can — not the other way around.

POPIA-aligned, audit-ready, with clear data residency and transparent sub-processors. Trust is earned by being inspectable.

Pragmatic over flashy

Boring technology that works on entry-level Android phones beats clever technology that breaks in the field. We optimise for the real device, the real budget, the real day.

That's the brief. We're not done, and we won't be for a long time. But every institution we help means more learners with records that follow them, more parents in the loop, more skills programmes audit-ready on day one. That's the work.

Lovemore Chanengeta

Lovemore Chanengeta is the Founder and CTO of eduSYMS, responsible for the architecture, product vision, and technical execution behind the eduSYMS ecosystem, including SiMS and skillSYMS. He leads the development of platform infrastructure designed for African education realities: offline-first access, compliance-ready workflows, scalable SaaS delivery, and secure data management.

With experience across institutional software, mobile-first EdTech, cloud infrastructure, and South African regulatory compliance, Lovemore drives the technology strategy that positions eduSYMS as a unified operating system for education and skills development.
